There are some modern MIDI editors that provide support for advanced virtual
synthesizers, like VST and DX instruments. Examples of such editors are:
Cakewalk Sonar, Steinberg Cubase VST etc. With this modern technology of virtual
instruments you can download new synthesizers from Internet and use it in your
music.
DrumFlow was developed as standalone drum editor and sequencer. DrumFlow uses only
system MIDI devices for output, and currently there is no way to control those
virtual synthesizers directly.
But I've got the simple solution - the DrumFlow can be used as MIDI source. All you need
is MIDI loopback device. I recommend MIDI Yoke, freeware MIDI loopback
device. This driver creates up to 8 loopback devices. One loopback device is like
a pipe - when one application writes to output, second application reads this
data from its input.

Installation for this solution is very simple. Download from this site MIDI Yoke
driver. Refer to installation instructions if necessary. There are two
different versions of driver this for Windows 9x and Windows 2000/XP.
Once MIDI loopback device is installed, select one of loopback channels in DrumFlow (channel
7 is selected on this illustration):

Then switch to MIDI editor and select this channel for input (on illustration - Cakewalk Sonar 2 XL):

Ok, now the DrumFlow is ready to play all virtual instruments installed on MIDI host. I've
tested this solution on:
- Cakewalk Sonar 2 XL
- Virtual Sound Canvas DXi
- LiveSynth
- DR-008 Drum Synth (comes with Sonar XL)
