Here are the answers to most common questions about the DrumFlow.
Q: Something wrong with drum sounds. I hear only
piano or something similar.
A: Please make sure you use proper
drumkits settings. General MIDI devices use General MIDI kits, SoundBlaster
cards (AWE, Gold, Live, Audigy and so on) use Roland GS drumkits. Each drumkits set
uses it's own type of program select message. Please keep it in mind.
Q: I've started the DrumFlow at the first
time but I don't hear anything when I play the drum. What's wrong?
A: Make sure that your MIDI device is
selected in Configuration window. If not, manually select it and click
'Save setting' checkbox. After closing this window, information will be
saved for future sessions.
Q: I have good wavetable soundcard, but
effects (like filter or chorus) don't work. Why?
A: Great MIDI effects is designed mainly by
Yamaha XG MIDI, but not only.
Roland GS standard supports some types of effects, so check your card or device
specifications.
Q: I can't copy the drum patterns to my MIDI
sequencer. I've tried MIDI export feature, but it was disabled. What have I to do?
A: MIDI export function can only be used in
the registered version of the DrumFlow. Click
here to get more information about the registration.
Q: Is it possible to create my own drumkit
combining the modified drum sounds of different standard drumkits?
A: Unfortunately, no. It's impossible
because of the MIDI standard. You cannot combine drums from different banks in
one MIDI channel. There is one of the solutions: create two channels
with different drum banks and let them play together.
Q: How could I define my own drumkit?
A: DrumFlow has its initialization
file - drumkits.ini. It's textual file with names of all drums in all XG banks.
If your device supports user banks, you can manually edit this file.
